Procrastination

For some time now I have been needing to add something new to my website. I always try to have something to say to help or encourage us in our journey through life and hopefully our walk with God. My dad keeps asking me “when are you going to put something new on” and I keep saying I will.

This brings me to the point of this message “Procrastination”.
Procrastination according to Webster’s dictionary is …. well something, I haven’t gotten around to looking it up yet. But anyhow I’m sure that most of you know what procrastination means. See it’s not that I don’t want to do something, just not right now. I mean later is always a good time to start something and after all if I do it now, I might not have anything to do later. “Work myself out of a job”, you might say.
You understand what I’m saying. Sure the garbage needed to be taken out 2 days ago but then someone is just going to fill the new bag full of trash too. Then I can take both bags out later. My favorite time of the day “later”
Sure Christmas is just around the corner, but if I go shopping now I might miss some big sale on Christmas Eve. Beside procrastination is very popular, everybody’s doing it. Just look around, we all seem to be waiting for something or someone else before we do whatever it is we need to do. Why do today what you can put off till tomorrow. There’s no need to rush into anything.
There was a young man and he understood the importance of putting it off. 23 years old and hadn’t done much so far, but he was young there was no need to hurry. He was a good guy, smart and handsome, he had life by the tail. Soon I’m going to be rich and successful, but today I’m good right where I am. But come tomorrow I’m going to start building my wealth, find the perfect girl and I’ll have everything. He heard an old preacher say “today is the day of salvation” but He was old and them old folks better hurry and get saved “they Old” but being young He still had plenty of time.
You know where I’m going with this. The tomorrow he was looking for never got there. No he didn’t die. He just keep waiting for tomorrow, just kept putting it off. Time goes by and, as any of you that are over 40 can testify, it goes by faster than you think. Till one day he wakes up and life has passed him by. Now 73 years old and the doctor has told him he probably want see 74. He never got around to finding that great girl and well the riches never showed up and now there was not going to be anymore tomorrows.
One thing was left, He remembered the words of that old preacher man. But He thought I have missed that chance too and wasted my life. The preacher said THAT day was the day of salvation and I missed it. But Jesus said “I am the same yesterday and today and forever”. Turns out Mr. Procrastination still had one more chance. He was blessed. And although he missed most of his life waiting to do it tomorrow, Salvation came to him today through the Love of Jesus and he was able to repent and ask Jesus into his heart and what was left of his life. Praise God.
But so many people don’t make it to 73 so many don’t make it to 23.
I’m guilty. I am a Procrastinator. I always seem to find a way to talk myself into waiting to get it, whatever “IT” is, done. But Please here this Old Preacher, Today is the day of Salvation, don’t put off Jesus Christ, we are Not promised tomorrow. It may be ok if the trash waits one more day to go out. But DON’T wait one more day for Jesus to come in to your Heart. He Loves you and don’t want you to wait till it’s to late.

I should have already had this posted but … well you know!
